Early Intervention

Why is Early Intervention Important?

Early intervention in physiotherapy and occupational therapy is crucial for promoting faster recovery, preventing complications, and maximizing long-term outcomes for individuals of all ages. By addressing issues promptly, these therapies can significantly improve physical and mental well-being, enhance independence, and potentially reduce long-term healthcare costs.

If a child has a developmental diagnosis with known associated delays, Stable Connections encourages starting physiotherapy or occupational therapy before the first signs of delay. This allows us to minimize the delay and prevent learned compensatory patterns. We evaluate children starting as early as 1 month of age for known developmental disabilities as well as torticollis and plagiocephaly.

Children recommended for physical or occupational therapy can highly benefit from the expertise and compassionate care provided by our team of Registered and specially trained therapists. We provide individualized treatment and therapy programs for each child specific for their needs. For example our therapies are trained in the SpiderCage (Universal Exercise Unit) and Dynamic Movement Intervention that can help children succeed.

Stable Connections can provide multiple models for physical and occupational therapy to help your child reach their developmental needs, including:

  • SpiderCage (Universal Exercise Unit):
The SpiderCage works through a system of pulleys and weights to help hone balance, muscle control, and motor skills to enhance your child’s abilities.

  • Dynamic Movement Intervention:
Dynamic movement intervention involves directly challenging the child’s motor skills through repeated, dynamic exercises to improve balance and function.

  • Intensive Physical Therapy:
Intensive physical therapy works through intensive, week-long sessions to improve posture, maintain regular movement, and catch up on lost milestones.

  • Muscle and Joint Strengthening:
Children faced with severe injuries affecting their mobility throughout the muscles and joints can partake in strengthening exercises to regain range of motion and control.
