Speech & Language Therapist

​Position Overview: 

Stable Connections is seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and talented Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. You might be a good candidate for this role if:

  • You would thrive providing therapy in our indoor clinic space located in downtown Winnipeg, and on a 40-acre Ranch (property is home to a variety of animals, and includes multiple outdoor and indoor spaces).
The Position: 
Speech & Language Pathologist fee for service employee/ contract worker. Must be available a minimum of 8 hours per week with after school and Saturday availability. Will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages. The Speech & Language Therapist will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team, both at our Downtown Winnipeg Clinic and at The Ranch in Lorette, to develop individualized treatment plans and ensure optimal patient outcomes. Requirements: 
  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Manitoba Licensed SLP and Registered with CASLPM
  • Minimum of 1-year experience working with pediatric clients 
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, move quickly to keep up with active children, and willingness to complete the American Hippotherapy Association part I and II
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and reporting

It is an asset for candidates if they have one or more of the following:
  • Training and/or certification in hippotherapy and/or previous work with horses (highly preferred)
  • Training and/or experience working in animal assisted therapy
  • Training and/or certification in DIRFloortime or PLAY Project
  •  Training and/or certification in PROMPT 
  • Training and/or certification in gestalt language processing
  • Experience with feeding therapy
  • Proficiency with a variety of AAC systems
We are willing to train the right candidate and provide a thorough mentoring and training program for all new therapists. In addition, we provide a mutually agreed upon period of mentoring prior to starting to see clients. We pride ourselves in our staff training and making sure that all new team members feel supported in our unique setting. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Provide speech, language, feeding evaluations and therapy 
  • Develop and implement treatment plans 
  • Complete documentation for all services provided 
  • Provide home recommendations 
  • Attend team meetings 
  • Be a part of our special events when they occur 
  • Educate patients and their families about speech therapy techniques and strategies to enhance communication skills. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and treatment outcomes in compliance with medical standards. 
  • Stay updated on the latest research and advancements in speech therapy practices.

Salary: Hourly fee for service, competitive wage, based on experience and or relevant certifications and trainings (increased with experience and completion of relevant trainings).
